I met two priests from Nigeria while in St. Louis recently for the Ordinariate Priest's Convocation (they were there for a different diocese). They were truly a joy to talk with. They had asked about the Ordinariate, and what it was like. I did my best to explain things to them. These were my brother priests; we had never met before, but we were each a part of the One, Big, Happy Family of the Catholic Church. It was truly a wonder to see their eyes light up when they came to realize that the Catholic Church is much larger than they had previously thought. I myself truly appreciated meeting fellow Catholics from another continent.
This is a joyful realization that we each need to come to on a regular basis. When we get stuck in our little corner of the world, we often forget that there is much more going on in the faith than we realize. Yes, there is bad stuff, but that is not what I am referring to. Rather, it is the fact that the Church is not limited to our experience, and God's Kingdom is much more "far and wide" than we can ever see. Make sure you thank God for what He is doing in Nigeria, and Australia, and the Yukon, and China, and wherever His grace extends.
