I presume most of you have heard that Fr. Chad Ripperger has been told by his Archbishop that he must "fast" from public speaking for a year. The details of this have not been made public to my knowledge. I did hear that Fr. Ripperger agreed; apparently with no contest. Some people have asked questions (very good questions) like, "why is Fr. Ripperger silenced, while other priests (like Fr. James Martin) continue to speak lies and encourage the practice of grave sins like sodomy?"
I cannot answer the first half of that question, but I can tell you quickly and simply why Martin and other wolves in sheep's clothing are allowed to destroy the flock. It is because his Bishop does not care whether people go to Heaven. There is another layer to this that I must add: when Martin and others preach satanic lies as Catholic truth, it only adds to their damnation. He is not going to get away with it. It might seem like he is "free", but in fact he is a slave to his sin and the sins that he encourages others to perform.
The good Fr. Ripperger is going through this trial because God loves him. God chooses what challenges we experience because He knows what is best for our salvation. There is nothing about Fr. James Martin's "freedom" that will lead to his salvation. It is clear that God is giving him enough rope to hang himself. He is less holy than a whitewashed tomb (to use Jesus' own expression). Remember, the demons have admitted many times that sodomy disgusts them so much that they tempt people into it, and then have to turn away because they cannot look at it.
Thus, it may be difficult to see Fr. Ripperger be silenced like this. Maybe there is something we do not know about, but we do know that he seeks to honor Christ and help others to resist the devil. We can pray for him, and know that while he is silent, the gospel will never be. Christ's word will continue to grow and spread, and nothing will slow the increase of His Kingdom. Praise be Jesus Christ.
